The "Quest" for a New Truck 2 12/28/17
Chief Staff and the Apparatus Committee were discussing options for a new Truck 2 to be purchased. Truck 2 currently runs a 2016 Pierce Velocity 95' mid-mount tower with a 2000 gpm pump and a 300 gallon water tank. This truck does its job very well, but the department is searching for something that will do the job better. A recent fire at a warehouse in Truck 2's first-due brought this issue to light. There was a small fire in a recess in a warehouse complex that could not be accessed by a normal aerial device. A snorkel from a neighboring department had to be specially requested so that crews could access the location where the fire was and put it out. Seeing how this could potentially be an issue again in the future, department members immediately got to planning a replacement. The new truck in question is most likely going to be an E-One Bronto. The Apparatus Committee is looking at Upper Saucon's and Riverwoods' Brontos for ideas. The truck they plan on getting will have the spacious E-One Quest chassis, a 2000 gpm pump, a 270 gallon water tank, and a 30 gallon foam tank. The Bronto device itself will be 114' in size. Crews plan to finish specifying the new truck with a dealer very soon and look to have the new truck by the spring.
More Updates and Department Changes 12/19/17
There are some updates due to be announced. First-off, there are an influx of new and used units coming into the fleet. The site is currently not up-to-date with all of these trucks, I don't expect it will be for the time-being, as the trucks are being built at such an irregular and sporadic rate. Some days one truck will be on the chopping block, some days it will be another. It really all depends. In other news, I, the webmaster, am getting busy at this point so updates to the site will be less often and probably less grand in scale unless I have a lot of time on my hands. The Department Facebook page is always a good place to check for pretty up-to-date incident details and delivery info. My Instagram account is also up-to-date on all of the latest builds.
So away from all of the boring stuff and onto the fun changes, and there is a lot to cover. First off is a major change in the way the stations are named. At the moment they're named Stations 1, 2, 3 etc. However, I plan to change their naming system to the name of the engine and the district it covers. So now Station 2 will be named "Engine Co. 3 - Downtown East." On a related note, Rescue 1 is getting its own station in the Sacum neighborhood. Additionally, the units will not be strictly numbered with a 3-*. In incident reports and other media documentation, and on the trucks themselves, the 3- will not be there. However, on official documents and dispatches the 3- will remain.
Those are the main changes. Other things to look for include a year-in-review video on my YouTube channel BBFD3, several new apparatus soon to come, as well as other miscellaneous incidents and events I put together. I hope everyone has a great holiday season and I hope to update you all again in the future soon! Thanks!

Well, here they are! The long-awaited Brick Borough ATV's 3-1 and 3-2! They are both 2014 Polaris Ranger 6x6 with a Kimtek Firelite Supermax skid. That includes a 100' 1 3/4" booster reel, 300' of 1 1/2" pre-connect, a 85 gallon water tank, a Darley-Davey 5.5 hp stationary pump, and a Scotty around-the-pump foam system with a 5 gallon foam cell. One of these trucks will go to Station 5 and the other will go to Station 4. Utility trucks at both these stations will be able to tow these units to the scene of calls. Attack 3-4 Delivered 8/11/17
Meet the new Brick Borough Attack 3-4! It is a 2013 Freightliner M2/Spartan with a Hale 750 gpm pump, a 400 gallon water tank, a Feecon ATP foam system, and a 30 gallon foam tank. This truck acts as a support rig in Brick Borough. Since it is stationed at Station 10 with Squad 3-3, it will often respond to assist with MVA calls. It is also equipped to deal with minor fires as well as brush fires in Brick Borough Wildlife Park and elsewhere on the East Side.

Attack 3-3 Delivered 8/8/17
The new Brick Borough Attack 3-3 has arrived! It is a 2012 Ford F-550 4x4/Firematic Rally BRAT with a Hale 250 gpm pump, a Pro Poly 400 gallon water tank, and a 10 gallon foam cell. While this truck responds to all of the same calls as the other attack trucks, it carries less equipment on board due to its small size. One of the main reasons this truck was purchased was due to the Brick Borough Wildlife Park, and the fact that the East Side, until now, had no brush trucks besides the park's own. Attack 3-3 will be stationed at Station 4 near Brick Lake, where it's 4x4 capabilities will come in handy.
|

Yet Another Expansion in the Department 8/5/17
Yes, we know, Brick Borough just got a new engine and a new station, but there is another expansion coming. Brick Borough is planning to work on beefing up the fleet on the East side of the city. Brick Borough has allowed for the purchase of a 2017 E-One Cyclone II eMAX heavy-duty rescue engine to serve as Squad 3-3, a Rally BRAT to serve as Attack 3-3, and a Freightliner/Spartan to serve as Attack 3-4, several new ATV units, and a new utility truck. Reserve units are also still in the plans.
Attack 3-3 will be going to Station 4. The utility truck and one of the ATVs will go to Station 5. Brick Borough has also allowed for the opening of one of the older city stations on the East Side to serve as Station 10. Squad 3, Attack 4, and several other reserve and support rigs will be stationed here. This plan is going to be initiated within the coming days.

Another Expansion in the Department 8/2/17
Brick Borough is once again planning to expand. A new station, Station 9, will be opening on the West Side of the city along Main Street. This station will house Engine 3-10, which has yet to be delivered. The new station will include all of the standards of a career fire station as well as an extra long skirt in front of the station, a driveway going to the rear of the firehouse, and two drive-through bays. This station will be first-due to the college located in town as well as the Brick Borough Mall. This station will be part of the Fourth Battalion.
As far as apparatus for this station, as mentioned above, Engine 3-10 will currently be the only truck stationed here. Engine 10 will be a 2013 Pierce Dash CF PUC pumper with a 1500 gpm pump, a 500 gallon water tank, a 30 gallon foam cell, and a 10k.W. Harrison Hydraulic generator. This will be the first PUC engine company to serve in the city.

New Tech Rescue Truck On Order 7/27/17
Brick Borough has taken another step in the direction of a more consolidated fleet. This time, we are doing it in in our rescue branch. For several years now, Brick Borough has operated 3 TAC companies, two at Station 1 and one at Station 6. These orange trucks have responded to every rescue call in the book over the last few years. Now, Brick Borough is looking for a change. In an effort to consolidate the duties of three trucks into one, Brick Borough has purchased a new apparatus. This new truck, to be designated Advanced Technical Rescue (ATR) 3, will be a 2012 Freightliner 114SD/Quaility Truck Bodies. To get an idea, it's pretty much the same as Fairfax County Technical Rescue 421. This truck can respond to every rescue call there is from trench rescue, to high-angle and confined-space. It will be stationed at Station 6. The other three TAC units will be sold to a neighboring companies, but it is hoped they will be within range to serve m/a with the Borough still.
Truck 3-6 Arrives 7/21/17
A Change In The Department 7/12/17
Brick Borough is renaming our rescue companies. Right now we run three rescue companies. Two are Pierce Mega PUC rescue pumpers and one is a walk-in heavy rescue. While the rescue pumpers can handle MVA's and other rescue situations, they don't carry as much equipment as the heavy rescue. If one is requested, it is easier to know what can be expected of the unit if it has a more specific name. Therefore, to keep each type of unit in its own category, Rescues 3-1 and 3-3, the Mega PUCs, will be renamed Squads 3-1 and 3-2. Rescue 3-2 will become Rescue 3-1. There will be no station assignment changes. This change will be implemented within the next week. The units will be going in for decal changes, and the response protocol, station, and other information pages on the department website will be updated in due time.
Annual 4th of July Parade to Be Held Today 7/3/17
The annual 4th of July is going to be held today in Brick Borough. The parade is going to start at 2:30 PM at Station 2. It will follow Main Street until Marion Avenue and then all of the participating parade units will end up in the public space part of Brick Borough Wildlife Park. All parade participants will be there until 5:00 PM. Everyone is then welcome to come and set up for the fireworks set to go off at 9:00 PM over Brick Lake. There will be several refreshments stands, and several fire apparatus will be on stand-by at the fireworks event. Pictures will be up tomorrow.

The Site is Not Dead, and a Big Change is Coming 7/2/17
Over the past several days and over the next several days to come, the Brick Borough Area United Fire and Rescue site will be fully up-to-date. All the new apparatus will be on their respective apparatus pages and all of their specific equipment stats are being put up.
In other news, Brick Borough is considering adding a Station 8. This station is located at 46 Charles Street. It was closed with Station 7 when the budget cuts hit in the 90's. It was built in 1975 and housed an engine and truck company. After it was shut down, BrickLeigh Heights began struggling with their call volumes, and they have been to this day. The nearest truck company was at least five minutes away and the next nearest engine company was three minutes away. With this new station, those timed will be cut down to a minute each. Engine 3-4 will be moved to this station, and a new Spartan Gladiator 103' aerial will be purchased to go here as well. This station will be located in the Southeast part of town, which is a shadier neighborhood, that sees a lot of violence, drugs, gangs, etc. It is without a doubt that Station 8 will soon become one of the city's busiest. Station 8 is expected to open by the fall.

Looking for a New Engine 3-6 4/14/17
The new Brick Borough city budget is prohibiting mass purchases for the summer months. However, they will allow purchases in case of emergency or ones that the department can raise money to purchase. Before this is happening however, the department will be allowed to order another apparatus and have a few more on their list. Brick Borough is looking into replacing HazMat 3 and Special Ops Trailer 3 with a two-piece HazMat company to be stationed at Station 3. They are also looking into buying new command vehicles.
Brick Borough Apparatus Committee officials have also looked into buying a new Engine 3-6. They have been very much satisfied with the performance of Engine 3-8 in its environment, and it would be a great addition to have another wagon engine on the other side of town as well. Therefore, the Apparatus Committee is looking to Pierce to buy a wagon engine very similar to Engine 3-8. Once the apparatus is ordered, updates will be posted.

Engine 3-2 Totaled in Crash 1/22/17
In the evening hours of January 21, 2017, crews with Engine 3-2 were helping clean up an MVA on the Smoky Creek bridge. The fog was very dense, and visibility was horribly poor. While Engine 3-2 was clearing the scene, a pickup truck, thta had no idea the truck was there, came tearing over the bridge. The truck slammed into 3-2, bouncing up and not only smashing the pump and compartments, but smashing the driver's side of the cab as well. 2 firefighters suffered injuries in the crash but are in stable condition. The driver of the truck was hospitalized and is in critical condition. Other Brick Borough crews arrived on the scene and helped take care of removing the rig from the bridge.
The next day, on the 22nd, crews went out to analyze the damage on the truck and get an estimate. The truck was deemed totaled. The damage was so severe in spots that the department knew the truck was done in. Now, the apparatus committee is in search of a replacement truck, preferably a new Pierce rescue engine. More news will become available once the apparatus committee orders a new truck. Reserve Engine 3-1 will be standing in for Engine 3-2 while this porcess is taking place.
